End of the home exchange

When your visit is coming to an end it is a good idea and a nice gesture that you return the home to its former state. Unfortunately one draw back of home exchange is that it is not like a hotel where the maid comes to clean up after you. So you should try to return the home to the same way you found it.

Some things you may want to do:

Wash dishes and cooking utensils and put them away.
Wash the towels and bedding that you have used.
Make the beds.
Fold and return all the linen, towels, etc that you used to where you found it.
Take out the trash.
Sweep, vacuum and mop if needed.

You can go the extra mile and leave a small amount of fresh snacks and bottled water for your exchange partners. Even a nice bottle of wine if you would like. It does not have to be an expensive bottle of wine, just the thought counts.

Make sure to leave a note for your exchange partners to let them know that you have prepared a fresh bed for them. This will make the return home after a long trip so much easier. No-one wants to come home from their vacation and have to clean up or do laundry after they have been traveling. Small gestures like this go a long way.
